Children’s Theatre of Charlotte is dedicated to the idea that drama is
an integral part of the human experience. Our In-School Program
offerings are designed to enhance different areas of study, support the
curriculum, and achieve an “above and beyond” experience in the
classroom. |

After School Enrichment Programs We offer several options tied to the CMS ASEP program, including performances by the Tarradiddle Players which coincide on two teacher work days. Click Here for a flyer outlining these performances, as well as the ASEP workshops outlined below.
Providing an introduction to Theatre skills, these interactive workshops
are designed to align with CMS suggested activities for after school
enrichment. Instructors come directly to your school, or workshops can
be scheduled at ImaginOn.

Improvisation After School Clubs
This 6-week after school club allows students to develop a deeper
understanding of theatre and acting techniques. Classes are one hour
per week and take place in an after school environment. Grade levels
may be combined. Children’s Theatre Experience
Get a glimpse into the world of theatre with a field trip to ImaginOn.
Experience includes a drama workshop, backstage tour, and exploration of
ImaginOn. Learning Through Drama (LTD)
The Learning Through Drama program (LTD) is designed to offer young people the opportunity to learn in a dynamic, fun, and challenging way. LTD residencies, which last three days, are designed to place a drama specialist in your classroom to address curriculum-based units of study. These residencies have been created to specifically support the goals and objectives put forth in the North Carolina Standard Course of Study.

Taking Care of our
Earth Preschool Residency
Watch your students blossom as they experience theatre for the first
time. A teaching artist is placed in your classroom once a week, for
6-12 weeks, to lead students in movement, song & creative drama
exercises. Greek Week
Introduce your students to the conventions of Greek drama in this two
week process. Week one teaches the conventions of Greek Theatre and
mask work while week two involves students in a rehearsal of a Greek
festival. Friends and family are invited to a culminating performance.
Costumes/Set/Masks provided. Shakespeare
Help demystify the Bard by introducing your students to the wonder of
Shakespeare. This interactive residency will enable students to
kinesthetically experience Shakespeare’s themes, language and characters
through “on their feet” activities. The Shakespeare program includes a
teacher training, 5 day residency and a professional tour of a
Shakespeare show to your school. Neighborhood Bridges
Watch as the powers of “Once Upon a Time” transform your classroom.
This nationally known program uses storytelling/creative drama to focus
on writing skills; includes team teaching with the classroom teacher,
pen pals, a field-trip to see a main stage show, and participation in
“Bridges Day”, a festival showcasing student performances at ImaginOn.
