Abby wants to be accepted as a new member of the school’s championship volleyball team. But Stephanie, the popular team captain, is upset that her friends have been spending time with Abby, so she begins an IM campaign to keep Abby off the court. As the girls jockey for position within their peer group, they use IM, text messaging and chat rooms to play off each other’s emotional insecurities. All the bullying, rumors, secret alliances and backstabbing spin out of control, throwing the girls’ lives into chaos. Parents and teachers, meanwhile, haven’t got a clue. Linda Daugherty, playwright and mother of teenage girls, conducted extensive interviews with girls on the giving and receiving end of bullying to create this brutally honest look into The Secret Life of Girls.
