Enrichment Class and Summer Camp Scholarships

Children's Theatre offers full and partial scholarships for students to attend enrichment classes and summer camps at Children's Theatre (in ImaginOn) and at satellite locations.  If a full or partial scholarship is awarded, an annual registration fee is due once per family per year.

Scholarship Criteria and Conditions

The following household size and income standards are used to determine eligibility.

*Household includes all people living in your household, related or not (such as grandparents, other relatives, friends). You must include yourself and all children who live with you.

Occasionally, extenuating circumstances may determine scholarship eligibility.  If your circumstances do not match the income listed above, you may still be eligible.  Indicate your circumstances on the application form or call the Community Involvement Director.

• Registration fee and partial scholarship fees must be paid by designated deadline or student will be removed from class.
• Scholarships are awarded based on need. There are a limited number of full and a limited number of partial scholarships.
• The entire application must be filled out and submitted before the deadline to be considered.
• Students must arrive on time for class.  Excessive tardiness could affect future scholarship eligibility and may result in dismissal from class.
• Students must attend at least 80 percent of classes.  If a student misses more than 2 classes per semester or 1 summer class per weekly camp the child will be ineligible for scholarship for a one-year period. In case of emergency, call the Community Involvement Director as soon as possible.
• Inappropriate behavior in class could affect future scholarship eligibility and may result in dismissal from class.
• Students are eligible for only one scholarship per registration session (i.e. Fall session, Winter session, Summer camp, School of Theatre Training).
• Scholarships do not carry over from session to session.  An application is necessary for each class session (only one tax return required per year).
• No faxed applications will be accepted.

How to Apply for an Enrichment Class Scholarship

• Print out the Scholarship Application (PDF).
  
• Visit the Education pages and find a class that is appropriate for your child.
• Fill out both pages of the application. To be considered the entire application must be completed and submitted after the dates below.
• Attach your most recent tax return. It will be shredded immediately after review.
• Mail the form or drop it by the Children’s Theatre in ImaginOn, 300 E. 7th Street, Charlotte NC 28202.
• If a scholarship is awarded to your child, you will receive a letter of acceptance from the Community Involvement Director.
• Do not send any form of payment with your scholarship application.

Application Dates

A limited number of need based scholarships are awarded. Scholarship spaces are filled on a first-come, first-served bases and often fill extremely fast. Applications submitted before the start dates below will be discarded and will not be considered.

How to accept your Summer Camp Scholarship

• Families must apply for a scholarship and receive an award letter before completing the acceptance process (see 'How to Apply" above).
• If a scholarship is awarded to your student, you must accept their scholarship by completing the online registration process before the scholarship registration deadlines.
• If a full or partial scholarship is awarded, an annual registration fee is due once per family per year and must be paid at the time of registration. Families should register all students within their household for all classes awarded at the same time to avoid additional fees.
• Families awarded partial scholarships must pay the balance at the time of registration.
• Students who do not register before the deadline will lose their scholarship award and can not attend class.
