2010-2011 School of Theatre Training
School of Theatre Training (SOTT) Classes are geared toward students who are dedicated to studying the skills and techniques of theatre. Below is information regarding classes, auditions and requirements for SOTT classes.
At the end of the year-long training program, students participate in “Showcase Week”, demonstrating the work done throughout the year.
Students who participate in the School of Theatre Training are invited to audition for OnStage.

LEVEL I FOUNDATION CLASSES
Level I Foundation Classes are designed for students in grades 3-12 entering the School of Theatre Training program. Classes are for students who are looking to develop principle skills in the areas of Acting or Musical Theatre. Students can register for either Acting or Musical Theatre. Students and parents are required to attend the mandatory orientation meeting the week of September 20-23. See How to Register for details regarding the audition and orientation.
Classes meet once a week for 90 minutes, Sept. 27-March 10. Tuition is $300. All students entering the School of Theatre Training Program must take a Level I Foundation class*.

*Students with outside experience or previous training can request an exemption from a Level I foundation class. Students who wish to propose an exemption to Level I must complete an audition, submit a resume and attend a short interview. LEVEL II CORE CLASSES
Level II Core Classes are designed for students in grades 4-12 who have taken a Level I class or a previous SOTT Core class and are looking to gain experience and build technique in the areas of Acting or Musical Theatre. Students register in an area of interest and then attend an audition and mandatory orientation meeting the week of September 20-23. Classes meet once a week for 90 minutes, Sept. 27-March 10. Tuition is $325.
Students who participated in a Level I School of Theatre Training class in previous years should register for a Level II Core class.

LEVEL III FOCUS AREAS
Level III Focus Areas are designed for students in grades 5-12 who have completed classes in Levels I and II. Students should demonstrate advanced skills in theatre techniques and seek a demanding and concentrated course of study. Students choose an area of concentration to focus on throughout the year. Level III classes are designed to be taken more than once in preparation for the Level IV Intensive Program. Students and parents are required to attend the mandatory orientation meeting the week of September 20-23. See How to Register and Audition for details regarding the audition and orientation. Classes meet once a week for 1.5 hours, September 27-March 10. Tuition $350.

LEVEL IV INTENSIVE and SPECIALTY CLASSES
Level IV Intensive and Specialty Classes are for students in grades 8-12 who have completed a Level III class and demonstrate a commitment and desire to complete an in-depth course of study in theatre. Specialty classes are created based on majority of student interest and abilities. Students are assigned to an Intensive or Specialty class based on their audition. Students and parents are required to attend the mandatory orientation meeting the week of September 20-23. See How to Register for details regarding the audition and orientation. Intensive classes meet once a week for 2 hours, Specialty Classes meet once a week for 2 ½ hours. September 27-March 10. Tuition $425-$525.

* Intensive and Specialty classes will be offered on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday nights. Classes will be scheduled following the Level IV placement auditions on April 12 and 15, 2010.
How To Register and Audition For Level I Foundation Classes
- Register for a class online.

Attend the mandatory orientation meeting. Orientation dates and times will be provided at the time of registration. Students should attend the orientation with their parent or guardian.
- Full and partial scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served basis for qualifying families.
How To Register and Audition For Level II Core or Level III Focus Area Classes
- Register for a class and audition time online.
Please note: you cannot register for a Level II or III class unless you have taken a class from the previous level or propose an exemption.
- Attend the mandatory orientation and audition. Orientations and auditions will occur in the same evening; dates and times will be provided at the time of registration. Students will attend the orientation with their parent or guardian before the audition. Students should prepare one monologue if auditioning for an acting class or one monologue and one song to be sung a cappella if auditioning for a musical theatre class. Audition selections should be no longer than 90 seconds. Headshots and resumes are required for Level III auditions only.
- Full and partial scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served basis for qualifying families.
How to Register and Audition For Level IV Intensive or Specialty classes
- Sign up for an audition. For Level IV classes only student must audition for placement.
Sign up for an audition here (April 12 or 15).
- Attend the Audition. Students should prepare two contrasting monologues or one monologue and one song to be sung a cappella. Audition selections should be no longer than 90 seconds total. A resume and headshot are required for Level IV auditions.
- Receive placement letter and register. Students will receive a placement letter in the mail following the auditions with class placement information and instructions on how to register.

Step 4: Attend the mandatory orientation meeting. Orientation dates and times will be provided in the placement letters. Students should attend the orientation with their parent or guardian.
