Whether your school comes to see a production, or we bring our award-winning shows and classroom experiences to you, Children’s Theatre of Charlotte is an exciting resource for your students. We offer school field trips to ImaginOn to see all our productions. We also bring the magic of theatre to schools, through our in-school programs or through a performance from our Resident Touring Company. See below for details, plus a chance to receive a grant for a field trip from Target or US Airways!
Field trips to Children’s Theatre of Charlotte offer professional theatre productions for school audiences. Our home at ImaginOn features two state-of-the art theatres, and all Children’s Theatre of Charlotte productions align with curriculum set forth in the Common Core State Standards and the North Carolina Essential Standards.

Our free study guides provide detailed information and activities to complement each production. With our convenient bus lane and attentive staff members, we make every effort to ensure a safe and smooth field trip experience for every school. Tickets for productions are $8 to $9 per person, which includes North Carolina sales tax. Adults, including teachers, must purchase a ticket, and a minimum of 20 seats must be reserved to qualify for the school group rate.

Field trip grants from Target
Target offers Field Trip assistance to qualifying schools through a generous grant program. Since launching the program in 2007, Target has awarded more than $16 million in grants – providing 2 million students in all 50 states with the opportunity to enhance their studies in the arts, math, science and social studies. Click here for guidelines and more information.
Our Resident Touring Company has performed for more than one million children, in schools, community centers – towns big and small – across the Southeast, bringing smiles (and maybe a tear or two) to the faces of everyone it meets. Children's Theatre of Charlotte touring shows offer a completely self-sufficient, “turn-key” experience. The touring company handles all set-up, breakdown and is used to performing in a variety of spaces and situations.

A further exploration of ImaginOn can be combined with your school’s visit for a Children’s Theatre of Charlotte performance.
Children’s Theatre of Charlotte is dedicated to the idea that drama is an integral part of the human experience. Our In-school programs are designed to enhance different areas of study, support the curriculum and achieve an “above and beyond” experience in the classroom.
Goals and objectives for the various programs align with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study (NCSCOC) and give teachers new and exciting ways to bring knowledge to life. Schools often seek funding support for these programs through PTA, private funds or through a local granting agency such as ArtsTeach. All programs subject to availability.
